Indie film producer Cindy Castro DiRusso announced today that global distributor Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, will release ItaliaScope and Red Point Digital, LLC’s feature-length comedy “Worst. Christmas. Ever.” on Election Day, Nov. 3, 2020.
“Timing couldn’t be better,” Castro DiRusso joked. “What could possibly go wrong on Election Day in 2020?”
“Worst. Christmas. Ever.” will initially be available on DVD, cable VOD (e.g., Comcast, Charter, and Verizon) as well internet VOD services (e.g., Apple, Amazon, Google Play, and Vudu), with plans to appear on a subscription-based VOD (SVOD) platform and/or pay TV network in the first quarter of 2021.
“We’re the little indie film that could,” said writer/director Johnny Chechitelli. “Having a powerhouse distributor like Gravitas Ventures believe in us is both exciting and validating.”
With mature themes, “Worst. Christmas. Ever.” is, according to Castro DiRusso, “for anyone who’s ever felt like it couldn’t possibly get any worse, and then it does. Which, is pretty much all of us right now.”
Filmed on location in Youngstown, OH, “Worst. Christmas. Ever.” tapped into the regional talent pool.
Film Synopsis:
It’s Christmas Eve in East Jesus, Ohio, and 15-year-old Sophia discovers, to her horror, that she’s pregnant. Completely snowed by this revelation, Sophia sets out to find comfort and glad tidings from family and friends. She shouldn’t have bothered. Her over-medicated grandpa is the highest functioning member of her dysfunctional family. Her baby daddy Trey is a lug head who’s cheating on her.
